Beaton Cup (R5)
20/04/08
January saw a full house of members and visitors for the talk by Rosemary Calvert on the Arctics and Macro photography.
In February Midhurst narrowly beat Witterings in an Inter Club competition.
With competitions well supported and all levels of members taking part, from the beginners through to the more experienced, there has been a good variety of work submitted.
League Round 4 was won by Clive Bennett, second Karen Bennett and third Judi Lion.
The Beaton Cup on the subject of “In the Garden” was won by Val Carver with her “Dahlia image”, second was Karen Bennett with “ A froggie went a courting” and third was Karen with her “Tomatoes” photograph.
In March the club was treated to an amazing Underwater Photography talk by Andy Heath, just as inspiring as David Attenburgh’s programmes!
The last competition of the season was won by new member Hugh Ross, second Clive Bennett and third Rachel Collins.
The last talk of the season was another success. Derek Forss was very inspirational on “The Essence of Landscape Photography”, showing the members and visitors that stunning images can be taken without all the fancy equipment. Preparation and knowledge of the area and weather were very useful tools as well.
The AGM and dinner will bring the season to a close and members can look forward to another varied programme, starting in September.
Photographed with their winning photographs are left: Karen Bennett (runner up), centre judge Laurel Guilfoyle with the Beaton cup and Val Carver (winner)
