Annual Dinner and Prize Giving
26/04/08
The Club has just celebrated its first 30 years, and John Harrison, President, gave a potted history of how things had changed over that period. John is the only current member who has been with the club since its outset.
Karen Bennett talked about the highlights of her first year as Chair and illustrated her talk with some very amusing props. All the living Chairmen of the Club also attended the Dinner, Rob Sadler, Karen Bennett, David Harris, Hilly Hoar and Stuart Sansom.
David Harris, one of the former Chairmen, presented trophies to the winners, Sue Hall, Karen Bennett, Val Carver, Joan Vallat, Clive Bennett and Jane Reeder.
After some careful deliberation, he awarded the Image of the Year trophy to Clive Bennett for his stunning “Lily”.
This season’s newly introduced programme of informal workshops on “Getting to know your camera” and “Digital post production” will continue through into next season and, during the summer, members plan to get together for informal visits to gardens and other places of photographic interest.
Next season’s Speaker programme includes such diverse topics as Wildlife, Sport, People, Buildings of London, Nepal, Kew Gardens and what will no doubt be an amusing opening talk on 24th September on “The First 10 Years” by Andrew Perry.
